    China Optics & Optoelectronics Manufactures Association (COEMA) was established in early 1987 approved by State Council, the social organization voluntarily sponsored by enterprises, institutions engaging in optics and optoelectronic science researching, manufacturing, teaching and studying through out of the country, which was a civil organization approved by Civil Administration of China. COEMA plays a advisor and assistant role for government administrating optics and optoelectronis industries. COEMA is administrated and guided in business by Information Industry Ministry, and supervised, administrated by Civil Administration.
There are 712 members resisted in COEMA , divided into seven branches in accordance with specialty fields: laser, infrared technology, optical element & optical instrument, optoelectronic device, optoelectronic diode display screen, liquid crystal and laser holography branch. Its membership institution includes not only high-tech enterprises such as BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. , SVA Electron Co., Ltd. , Shenzhen Tianma Microelectronics Co., Ltd., Shanghai Nicera Sensor Co., Ltd. , China Daheng Laser Engineering CO., Ltd. but also national important science research institutes, such as North China Research Institute of Electro-Optics, No.33 Institute, Beijing Tsinghua National Liquid Crystal Technology Engineering Research Center, No.8358 Institute of China Aviation Industry General Corporation, Fujian Institute of Research on The Structure of Matter, CAS etc.

2. History background and situation analysis
    China Optics & Optoelectronics Manufactures Association was established in Beijing on January 23rd 1987 (former name: China Optics Manufactures Association). Mr. Yan Jici, former Vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress addressed opening ceremony conference. Mr. Wang Daheng, former Vice-Chairman, optic specialist of CAST made work report. Mr. Zu Rongji, former Vice-Minister of State Economy and Trade Commission, Mr. Xie Gaojue, former minister of Electricity Ministry and QianZhenmeng, former Vice-Minister incharge of the office of Sciences and Technology leader group of State Council were present and made congratulation speeches. Mr. Yan was elected as honorary president, Mr. Wang Daheng president of COEMA,
    On October 14th 1992 1st International Laser,Optoelectronics and Photonics Exhibition was held in Beijing International Exhibition Center sponsored together by COEMA and CCPIT, the first international optoelectronic exhibition in China. President Wang Daheng cut the ribbon at the opening ILOPE and vice-president Li Guoshu addressed opening conference. Nowadays, ILOPE has developed into the great impact, extremely specialized platform for mutual exchanges of various circles in international optoeletronic industry.
    COEMA is one of 1st degree association among 1800 administrated by Civil Administration and the councilor of China Industry and Economy Federation
    February 28th 2005, the website (http://www.coema.org.cn) and forum (http://www.coema.org.cn/bbs) of COEMA has opened and undertook the mission providing industry service and the window of international exchanges.
In order to turn really out to be industry association representing the interests of enterprises and institutions of COEMA, gradually orbit with global organizations, the new council and sectary general of COEMA dedicate to develop COEMA, positively strengthen home and broad interchange and cooperation, extend COEMA influence, fully play its proper role in market economy and provide service for enterprises and government.
